Magnetic Tides was recently highlighted in a City of Berkeley news article showcasing our work developing a new non-invasive treatment for stroke rehabilitation. The piece covered our technology, our progress toward FDA approval, and our continued growth here in Berkeley.

Magnetic Tides has been awarded a new SBIR grant from the NIH’s National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). This funding will support the expansion of our research using kTMP to treat anhedonia in individuals with major depressive disorder. We’re thrilled to launch this project in collaboration with Dr. Andrew Krystal at UCSF and continue advancing innovative approaches to mental health.

We’ve received an SBIR grant from the NIH’s National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke to study the long-term effects of kTMP on stroke recovery. The NIH review committee called our technology “an impactful tool for clinicians to enhance rehabilitation outcomes.”

The FDA has granted Breakthrough Device Designation to our non-invasive brain stimulation technology, kTMP. Our recent study showed kTMP improves upper extremity function in chronic stroke patients with no side effects or discomfort.

Our Director of Research, Christina Merrick, was a speaker at the 2024 Brainbox Ltd Conference in London where she presented our exciting new data on kTMP stimulation, including preliminary findings in chronic stroke!

Katheryn Thayer-Pham and Cidnee Luu participated in the NYC 2024 Neuromodulation Conference! They presented novel data on patient comfort levels while being stimulated at 8 V/m at the cortical level -- as well as preliminary data on the long-term effects of kTMP stimulation.

Magnetic Tides attended the CNS 2004 Conference in Canada! Philipp Reber, our Lead Neuroscientist, discussed our recent work on kTMP modulating motor performance.

Magnetic Tides has been awarded a grant by the Fyssen Foundation to test the use of kTMP to improve speech comprehension. This is a collaboration with Magnetic Tides, UCB and Prof. Benedikt Zoefel from the Centre de Recherche Cerveau et Cognition.

Magnetic Tides was chosen as one of Hello Tomorrow’s Deep Tech Pioneers for our innovative brain stimulation device, and will be attending the Hello Tomorrow Global Summit in March 2024.
